Staging a home to sell is not the same as decorating or redesigning your home to dwell. Very specific techniques are used to stage that are geared to making the home appeal to the largest group of buyers, rather than the specific tastes of the homeowners. Though the daily lives of the sellers are certainly part of the equation, the real truth is that there is a little bit of inconvenience associated with staging. Clutter must be kept cleared, cleaning must be done every day and the small conveniences we are accustomed to, may not be available for the duration of time on the market. Fortunately, for staged homes, that is shorter than average!

For a slide presentation of Re:Fresh Re:Design staging projects & collaborative staging projects,
Every home, no matter the size or condition will benefit from staging. Homes that have been professionally decorated by an interior designer are exactly that, DECORATED for the enjoyment and pleasure of the homeowner.
Staging removes the personality, i.e. personal photos, momentos, trophies, certificates and special collections that tell too much about the family who lives in the home, as well as distract the buyer, and prevent them from imagining themselves in the home.
Staging does not remove the character, but enhances the architectural details, focusing on special features, and highlighting with neutral elements, those areas that will appeal universally.
At the other end of the spectrum, homes that are "lived in" and enjoyed by busy families will benefit from staging by taking away the non-essential elements, (clutter) that has usually taken hold in the home, and in fact adds stress to daily life.
