Staging to sell, is not the same as redesigning to dwell.  During a redesign, the ways that a family uses a space is the ultimate consideration.  That is not to say that things will not change, sometimes dramatically, but only when the family members are on board with what the changes can do for them regarding comfort, convenience and aesthetics. You have heard, "form follows function"? Redesign is about designing a space around the way it is used, and making it pleasing in the process.

Re:Design...it's in our name!

Some of the techniques used in staging are the same as those used in redesign. In redesign the term "editing" is more appropriate than "decluttering" because rather than removing personal photos, collections and momentos, those elements are pared down to the most important. 

In the top photo to the left, the collection on top of the cabinet was all related, but had so many pieces it was difficult to focus on any individual element . I asked the homeowner to choose what was important, and we built from there.  The remaining pieces were used in other areas of the room, where they held a more prominent position.

Redesign can mean one room or a whole house! You decide if the goal is a whole new space using existing furnishings, or all new!  Maybe it means repurposing a few pieces as in the photo above, you make the call , but first...you have to make the call! 719.393.3729
